Sketch-a-Day: A social app for artists

Class Project: Habit forming app - 2026

A social media app where users are encouraged to post daily and trade artworks with other users to unlock stickers, customize their sketchbooks, and form new connections while making art.

In modern social media platforms, the constant demands from the algorithm means artists are under pressure to provide high quality artwork in a tight schedule. Missing out on engagement and resulting in burnout. So in pursuit of developing an app built for artists keeping a habit of drawing daily, Sketch-a-day was born from the question “what if there was a modern social app for artists?”

The Solution

By focusing on posting one sketch every day, artists can get out of their “procrastination” phase by collaborating in a slow-stakes artistic environment. And Art Trades pushes this core motivation further.

Art Trade: a collaborative solution to a isolating problem

Art trades are done when the user requests a trade from a different user. the requester sends the trade request with a prompt, artists take their time to draw out their ideas, and uploads the work to be sent over on sketch-a-day. when enough trades have been achieved, the app turns these drawings into digital stickers.

Early Development

After narrowing down the concept, visualized the user experience with a storyboard, user flows, a “MoSCoW” and after finalization of concepts, hand-drawn wireframes.
